▪️Alyssa grew up in her father’s tire and repair shop.🔧 When it came to friends, she was always ‘one of the boys’
▫️After high school she started in the restaurant industry, and quickly went from serving to managing a restaurant. When COVID hit, Alyssa was left without a job.
▪️She lives in a small town, so moving to another restaurant was out of the question. She was always interested in the trades though, so she began her search.
▫️She applied to quite a few places and says she was turned down because being a woman, makes her unemployable. -If slander wasn’t a real thing, I would totally be asking for the names of those companies 🤪
▪️Her amazing bosses decided to take her on this summer as a roofer, and Alyssa absolutely loved it! 🔨
▫️Alyssa says “I enjoyed every minute of it and wouldn’t trade the experience and knowledge I gained for anything. It gave me the motivation I needed to continue pursuing my curiosity in the trades.”
▪️She is a woman of the outdoors! Some of her favourite hobbies include fishing and hunting, so it only makes sense that she would take a job that was based outside.
▫️ @alyssay1999 Thank you so much for sharing your incredible journey with me! I can’t wait to see what else you accomplish! If anyone ever tells you that you’re unemployable for being a woman again, send them my way 😈
